Midsurface Position

The Midsurface Position slider bar (also known as scale slider) defines the depth of the midsurface if the distance between the seed face and its opposing face is one thickness. The midsurface at the middle of the two opposing faces in the solid is used as the default.

Cliff Angle

Cliff Angle is measured as the angle between the normals of the two adjacent faces at a point on the common edge. As a general rule, the smaller the cliff angle you enter, the more boundary the system will find between the faces.

INFO on Midsurface Features

Once the midsurface feature is created, you can use the Info function to display and highlight midsurface and face pair feature information. You can do this using Info Feature Browser. (Refer to the Information section of the Gateway Online Help Manual for details.)

The Midsurface Feature information dialog can be accessed by selecting a midsurface or face pair feature from the displayed Feature Browser dialog (the selected feature is then highlighted on the graphics screen). Each of the information dialog provides you with the ability to display information on the feature you selected for inquiry.

The illustration below shows a thin-walled solid body with faces paired whose features are highlighted by different colors (yellow and magenta).
